What is a PSA?
Public service announcements (PSA's) are broadcasts in the public interest. They are written or video messages designed to focus public attention on important issues. PSAs are non-commercial, non-denominational, and non-political. PSAs may be used to convey general information, announce a public event, or seek new resources or clients.
Television, radio, and print media often run some form of PSAs as a community service. Local media outlets are ideal to get your message out, as well as video links on websites on the Internet.

Stensaas and Johnston Join SMC Board of Directors
Weed, CA - March 2, 2010 - Siskyou Media Council, the local nonprofit organization that encompasses MCTV15 Public Access television and PROPS, a professional production services division is pleased to announce the addition of Mark Stensaas and Nathan Johnston to their board of directors, reports Audra Gibson, Executive Director for the organization. Both appointments are for a term of two years.
Mark Stensaas, photographer and owner of Shasta View Gifts in Weed brings a love for technology and media distribution to his board position. “I am really interested in putting my avocation to work to benefit Siskiyou Media Council,” he said. “This is an organization that I can serve where I believe I can see results for my efforts”.
Nathan Johnston, returning to Mt. Shasta after graduating from Harvard University and working on projects focused on community and youth development both here and abroad, is supportive of the mission of SMC. “I really want to weave together my interests in youth programs, technology, creativity and build community through my involvement with Siskyou Media Council and the Public Access concept” he says.
The two have joined other board members, President, Greg Messer, Secretary Treasurer, Barbara Dillmann, Todd Cory, and Steve Crow supporting the SMC mission to encourage and support the use of media for sharing thoughts, opinions and events by, and for the people of Siskiyou County.
Messer reports that there is still one vacancy on the board and invites inquiries via email to info@mctv15.org. The board is particularly interested in reaching out for representation from north county. “Adding Nathan and Mark to our board gets us representation that reaches into the broader demographics of our area. This takes us closer to our goal of building a stronger county wide community by developing relationships with a broader number of nonprofits, groups and agencies.”
